Actual (non-sarcastic) good news? Well, you decide. Seems like an improvement, and an encouraging sign, to me. To continue a theme, I wonder if this will make more than a ripple in the global news ocean. Some things, even if they are reported, die after the networks report them once. For instance, I learned of the situation in the Congo from Mark Fiore, an internet humorist. (If you have Flash, you can watch the cartoon, entitled "Coverage Interruptus," here.) Pretty lame, huh? I must be pretty uninformed, huh? Well, perhaps, but I read the Washington Post and surf the net just like all you freaks, and I hadn't heard about it. Just shows to go ya, huh?

So much good news I can't stand it. Of course, this kind of thing is laughably speculative, but it's fun to monger fear! I like how the article does not give ANY concrete facts, and the only "evidence" is a list of potential targets. No info about how it was collected, or anything really useful. Still, could it be that this represents a backlash? Naah...

Glad to hear that Iraq's doing so well now. Y'know, even if these spotty reports aren't 100% accurate (and who knows what's really going on), it does show that maybe things over there weren't quite as simple as they seemed. (Well, it only seemed simple to uninformed dittoheads, but whatever.)

Udate: Bush finally gets around to commenting, through his official mouthpiece. So he distances himself from Lott and Moran, but this is okay? Probably because he believes that Rickaroo has "a good heart" or some such nonsense. He's constantly boiling issues down to their barest essence, thus allowing him to decide between easy choices such as "right" and "wrong." Ah, if only things were actually that simple.

Sen. Santorum spouts off at the mouth; I didn't expect this from him, but maybe I don't know him that well. Apparently he's a bigot. I think the worst thing he said is that private lives are not private. Um, excuse me, but private activity between consenting adults IS constitutionally protected (I seem to recall a Bill of Rights...) and the fact that he doesn't recognize that is even scarier than his homophobic riposte.
